I like the lighting on the trees! It looks like the sort of moon that ought to make a sound. The starkness toward the top reminds me a little of some Japanese woodblock night paintings, though it's less 'floaty' overall and the shading is less flat, so I'm not sure how much of the similarity is literally just 'trees against a moon'... But I think it does have that vibe, especially when zoomed out a bit. I haven't read the stories so any details will have gone over my head. :P

The book this is from was really important to me during my teen years. I re-read it recently and it doesn't hit the same anymore. I think I sort of outgrew it. I'm older now than the author was when she wrote it, and I can tell. But it's still a really good book and there's still a lot of sentimental value.

Yeah, that's a weird feeling! Both for the emotional/world-wisdom side and also just the technical side; I remember rereading something and finding the figurative language clunky where it had Just Worked when I was a teen. That was kinda sad.
